Where possible, TenCate Geosynthetics enters into cooperation with specialist companies in the chain. A good example of this is the strategic cooperation with WaterSolve LLC in Caledonia (Michigan, US) in environmental and hydraulic projects. This market group employs TenCate Geotube® technology for dewatering and coastal protection, while WaterSolve’s contribution consists of chemical expertise, equipment, chemical installations and operational support.
WaterSolve LLC offers customized methods and services for environmental remediation. Its staff, which consists of engineers and technicians, provides support to the customer from the start of a project to its completion. It is this full-service concept that has earned the company its reputation as the US leader in dewatering projects. In 2005 TenCate Geosynthetics entered into a distribution agreement with the company for the TenCate Geotube® portfolio, with the field of operations being municipalities and light industry in the North Central section of the United States. ‘WaterSolve is an expert in the use of the chemical treatment of sediments for dewatering’, says Mark Gunzenhauser (VP of sales, Water & Environment business unit). ‘This is a key precondition for the successful operation of a TenCate Geotube® container.’

‘Our cooperation is built on the synergy between our products and services in dewatering technology – our core business – and the range of TenCate’s products’, says Gregg Lebster (President, WaterSolve). ‘This enables us to offer a ready-made solution for the dewatering of sludge. Without this strategic cooperation our customers would have to approach separate companies for all the different ingredients for a dewatering project, such as the chemical supplier, the container producer and the contractor, as well as design work. Together with TenCate we can carry out all of these functions vertically integrated.’

A large number of projects have now been completed using TenCate Geotube® technology. Examples include the cleaning of a water basin at a glue factory in Illinois and a remediation project at a Navy facility (Seaplane Lagoon) in California. TenCate Geotube® made the difference there. ‘This has led to a reduction in the costs of dewatering’, says Gregg Lebster. ‘Manufacturers are happy to discover a simple TenCate Geotube® system can save the cost of upgrading their water treatment plant, or lower the surcharges being paid for dumping residuals into the municipal wastewater systems. In addition to other benefits of use, other methods of dewatering require far more energy, labour and maintenance. The product is so easy to use that it also makes a difference for contractors and customers.’
