#264 Dewatering Lagoon Residuals

This glue manufacturing plant in Illinois needed to dewater residuals from the wastewater storage pond and haul them to a landfill. The characteristics of the glue caused problems for mechanical dewatering equipment. WaterSolve, LLC did some testing on-site as well as in the lab and determined the residual could be dewatered with a Geotextile tube and the proper chemistry. A pilot study was performed in the summer of 2009. The material dewatered fine and 24% dry wt solids were achieved by the fall. They now plan to repeat the process as a standard practice.
